Kannawidan: Panagsalinntakad ti Tawid ken Kultura

     Kannawidan Festival is also the most significant cultural and historic festival of Ilocos Sur, which each year celebrates the province's foundation. It is a festival wherein the rich culture, history, and tradition of the Ilocanos are given focus. The festival brings people together to rejoice in their identity in terms of a series of activities, including indigenous rituals, traditional dances, and religious processions, which are consistent with the traditions of the past of the place.

     Aside from preserving culture, the festival also allows economic growth of the province. It is within the province's sphere of interest as the Agri-Tourism Trade Fair, where the products of local farmers, artisans, and businessmen like abel Iloco(abric), burnay(clay pot), and local products like longganisa and bagnet can be sold. In addition to sustaining the locals' business, it also welcomes investors and tourists, which is among the economic requirements of the province.

     Apart from the aforementioned, the festival also unites and proud Ilocanos of Ilocos Sur. It sends balikbayans and tourists home to relive again their common heritage in competition, beauty pageant, and food fest. The Kannawidan Festival is not a festival but tradition confirming Ilocano identity without forgetting to bring tourism and development to the area.

     Kannawidan Festival is also a platform to promote the success and excellence of Ilocanos. It consists of art, literary, music, and dance contests where local performers and artists get to show off their masterpieces. The festival also includes education and historical booths tha
