WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society

The Philippines celebrates National Women’s Month with activities and initiatives spanning the entire month of March. This observance is deeply rooted in the global commemoration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, a tradition born from the early 20th-century activism of women advocating for labor rights and gender equality. Between 1909 and 1911, working women in the United States, united under the National Women’s Trade Union League and other groups, rallied against low wages, insufficient protective legislation, and harsh working conditions.

In the Philippines, the National Women’s Month Celebration has grown into a significant platform for celebrating women’s achievements while addressing critical issues concerning women’s empowerment and gender equality. Anchored in international and national frameworks, such as the Convention on the

Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Beijing Platform for Action, the Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development (1995-2025), and the Sustainable Development Goals, this month-long celebration highlights the critical role of women in nation-building.

Through various programs, campaigns, and activities, the observance fosters greater awareness of women’s rights, recognizes their contributions across all sectors, and calls for action to dismantle barriers to gender equality. The National Women’s Month Celebration in the Philippines not only honors the historical ro

ots of women’s advocacy but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing journey toward a just and inclusive society for all.

Quarter Three Chronicles

This quarter, I learned the importance of perseverance and time management. Balancing my responsibilities was challenging, but I managed to stay organized by prioritizing tasks and using a planner. I also discovered the value of collaboration, especially in group projects like our community-based research. While working with others, I improved my communication skills and contributed ideas to achieve our common goals.            However, time management was a challenge, and I struggled with meeting deadlines. To address this, I created a better schedule and worked ahead on tasks. Moving forward, I’ll continue refining my time management skills and focus on stress relief through regular breaks. I’m determined to keep improving and make the next quarter even better.           A key realization this quarter was how much I’ve grown through my experiences, both academically and personally. I had to face ...

Though it has become more popular as an all-romantic couples' day, it encompasses friendship, family, and loving oneself. The day is all about acts of love, gifts of love, and celebration of relationship in a wider aspect. History of Valentine's Day      Valentine's Day history began in ancient Rome, where mid-February was the Lupercalia festival to celebrate the arrival of spring. The festival became more developed, and by the 5th century, Pope Gelasius declared February 14th St. Valentine's Day in honor of the life of St. Valentine, a Roman priest, who was convicted of marrying women and soldiers secretly against the emperor. His valiancy and kindness made him a lover and admirer of love and devotion. Why We Celebrate Valentine's Day?      Valentine's Day has become a global tradition that truly does not pay attenti...
